Mum and I have listened to countless songs about finding, returning to or, making a home and yet, it shocked me how exciting moving day was, and every day since! At first I was a little nervous, after all my past hidey-house was only the cozy cardboard box my mum was given when I was adopted. But I just couldn't resist exploring and before I knew it I was in love with my new hidey-house. The best part, is, mum made it all by herself! And if, you follow the steps below you can have your own custom made hidey-house!
How to make a hidey-house:
Materials:
- pencil
- ruler or square (picture of a square included below)
- enough wood (the size/quantity of wood depends on how big you plan to build the hidey-house)
- a hammer and nails
- a saw
1. Measure the space where you are going to have your hidey-house, you don't want a house that's too big!
2. Draw a line using your pencil and ruler/square on the wood where you plan to cut the wood. (In my hidey-house, two walls were 6 by 5 inches and 2 were 10 by 5, the roof was made of the remaining wood scraps)

4. Place all you pieces together to ensure you don't nail the wrong pieces together.
The hidey-house is starting to take shape! |
6. Make a doorway, you can either saw a rectangular shape for the door, or if you have the right tools, you can make the circular doorway shown below.
8. Congratulations your nearly done! Once you sand of any sharp edges, you will have built your very own hidey-house!
Before you decide this is wayyyy to much work, take a look at the moving day moments that made it all worth it!
